Voice and conversation settings
Choose a voice, fine-tune conversations and understand technical permissions.
BeAI configures the voice engine. Choose your assistant’s voice, language and behaviour without selecting a provider or technology.
Choose and preview a voice
Open Bots → Edit → Language, time zone and voice, select a voice and play its preview. The sample follows the bot’s language, then an available fallback. It illustrates the voice; it does not test your instructions or a real call.
Voices are identified by name, without provider or model names. Availability depends on the bot’s configuration. Voice identifiers used by the API remain unchanged.
Save and test your scenario with a real call. Changes apply to future calls. Phone settings, skills, permissions, recordings and history are preserved.
Fine-tune the conversation
Advanced panels contain compatible speech detection, sensitivity, interruption and speech speed controls. Closing a panel preserves saved values. Custom values override automatic settings.
Start with automatic settings. Increase the end-of-speech delay gradually if hesitations are cut off. Check sensitivity and audio quality if short confirmations are missed. A short detection delay does not guarantee an immediate AI or external-service response.
See Responsiveness and usage and Identity and instructions.
Actions and data
Enable the skills you need. BeAI checks actions against the bot’s permissions and organisation scope. A spoken answer does not prove a business action succeeded: the assistant announces the action, then confirms the returned result. Technical parameters and secrets stay on the server.
With the experimental voice configuration enabled by the platform, an action can remain in progress while the assistant answers another question. An acknowledgement or “in progress” state is not success: the assistant waits for the matching final result before confirming. When a search fails or finds nothing, it tells you; a relevant retry is announced and limited to one additional attempt. It must not make more than two consecutive tool calls without speaking, or repeat a write that is confirmed or still in progress. These instructions complement each skill’s limits and permissions.
A connection failure or service limit can prevent startup. Check the conversation status and send its reference to your administrator. Technical changes never rewrite historical conversations.
Permissions and pricing
Each organisation has one voice price in EUR/min excluding VAT, independent of the engine. Recording, auto-improvement, telephony and other services retain their prices. Subscriptions retain included minutes and their contractual overage price.
Only a platform administrator may change the engine in the bot’s closed technical panel. Customers and resellers cannot select it. Picapp bots keep their integration’s fixed configuration. Technical names are absent from lists and normal detail pages. Platform administrators can inspect them in a conversation’s usage breakdown after temporarily enabling Purchase estimates from their avatar.
New bots retain the standard voice configuration. There is no automatic switch to an experimental configuration. An old experimental configuration alias is interpreted using the current compatible mode, without an additional variant or choice. This compatibility never rewrites historical conversations, versions or prices.
Public API
Create a bot with business settings through POST /api/v1/bots without selecting an engine. Change an authorised bot’s voice with:
PATCH /api/v1/bots/{id}/voice
{"voice":"Puck"}
Technical selection fields require platform-administrator privileges. Explicit attempts by other users return 403, even when the submitted value is unchanged. Editing other settings preserves the existing technical configuration.
Local previews are also available through GET /api/v1/voices/preview?voice=Puck&locale=fr&bot_id=42 for a bot within your scope. Without bot_id, standard voices apply. An out-of-scope bot, incompatible voice or missing sample returns 404. The technical engine catalogue is restricted to platform administrators and does not determine customer prices.
